November!

November has arrived! I have mixed emotions with this month.
I'll start with the worst first and finish with the best!

November is the dreariest month of the 12, I think. The leaves are gone, the weather begins to turn cold and seems to be dreary a good part of the month. We don't even have white snow to cover the bare trees until the end of the month usually.

BUT, it is the month of my birth, the month of Thanksgiving. The month before Christmas - we decorate and get into the holiday spirit. I love the warmth and coziness of the house when decorations are up, music is wafting in the air (I love the Sounds of the Season channel, I keep it on almost non-stop), the smell of baking hits you when you enter the house (the time of year I bake the most).

Just talking about it makes me want to go get the Christmas decorations out!
I force myself to wait until the weekend after Thanksgiving. I don't want to short-circuit that holiday.

In fact, this year I am going to send out Thanksgiving cards instead of Christmas cards. It's gonna stretch me because I'm also doing a craft show in the middle of the month (the weekend of the 19th).
The same weekend as Christmas Through Lowell.

Our oldest daughter is due with our 8th grandchild the first week of December. She has asked me to commit a day a week to help her get some projects done at her house before that time.

SO, with all that going on I am going to cancel November classes.
If you get a "hankerin'" to do a card or two, call me and I'll sit with you personally and do a couple!

So enjoy this holiday season. I hope it is a blessed one for you and your family!
This picture is going out on our Thanksgiving card....for you, a Sneek Peak!

October

Have you noticed the colors beginning to change?
I just love seeing the changes. I love how the tips of the trees start first then the color
moves up the branches.
There are only a few trees turning at first, then it seems like in a few days time all the trees are
affected.
I really shouldn't drive this time of year. I stare at the colors, the variations, the intensity of color.
It's hard to take your eyes away.
I'm sure Dan is quite tired of hearing me say, "Look at that color, isn't it stunning!?"

During October I plan to make as many fall cards as I can squeeze in. I've gotten fall paper, fall stickers, pulled out my fall stamps.....all in preparation for some "stunning" cards.

I would love to have you join me in making works of art!

The dates are as follows:

Saturday, October 1
10:00 a.m.
$10.00

Saturday, October 8
10:00 a.m.
$10.00

Saturday, October 22
10:00 a.m.
$10.00

Niece - Hannah

So, I'm getting ready for my class next week.
We aren't going to do just cards. We are going to do some gift certificate holders, purses that will hold any number of things to give as a gift AND the cutest of all, a swivel card.

I made a sample of this a couple years ago, and put my niece's picture on it, cos it was the right size AND she was so cute - it fit perfectly.

Here's a sample of the swivel card. Hope you can get the detail of how it swivels. It is simple to make, but makes quite a statement, don't you think?
And thank you Hannah for being such a beautiful model!

I'll add more samples as I get them made!

A Paper Enthusiast

What did you say?
A paperless society??
NOOO!!
You can't do away with paper! (Ok, I know they mean as far as office work is concerned, we're leaning more heavily on computers.) So I'm not completely freaking out.

But I love paper....after God, my husband, our children, our grandchildren, our extended family, my friends....

That's why I chose this name for my blog - Papier Aficionada.
Papier is French for paper.
Aficionada is Spanish for enthusiast, ardent fan or devotee.
Ardent might be a little strong, it means fervent, passionate or characterized by intense feeling.
I like paper, but come on....!

I do however, thoroughly enjoy creating cards, scrapbook pages, cards, boxes, cards, purses, cards, just about anything out of paper, did I say cards?

I enjoy making cards so much I think everyone should make them. That's why I'm offering classes on papercrafting. So join me in my passion......here's my Fall /Winter Schedule!
